Poppies: Weeping Window 2nd Aug – 16th Sept | Middleport Pottery, Stoke on Trent
Weeping Window is a cascade of several thousand handmade ceramic poppies (the same poppies that formed the amazing installation at the Tower of London in 2014), seen pouring from a high location to the ground below. The sculpture is on display at selected locations throughout 2018, and we’re in luck – Middleport Pottery is one of those locations.
Museum of the Moon by Luke Jerram 21st – 29th Aug | King’s Hall, Stoke on Trent
Sculpted using NASA imagery, Luke Jerram’s spectacular seven-metre-wide, hovering moon will be on display in Stoke, having wowed crowds around the globe. Check it out whilst it’s here!

“It will never work” is an exhibition celebrating developer Urban Splash’s RIBA award winning projects (of which there are numerous), and the impact they’re had on the spaces in which we live and work.
Alex Chinneck – Open to the Public Throughout Aug | Brundett House, Kent, TN23 1PN
Alex Chinneck is a British sculptor who’s work melds art, architecture, theatre and engineering. As Alex describes on his instagram page, for his latest project he has “unzipped the front of a 1960’s office building” and you can (and should) go and see it.
MAKEMORE Festival 23rd – 27th Aug | Victoria Park, London
The “festival for makers and doers”, at MAKEMORE you can try your hand at all kinds of making under the guidance of today’s top makers. Artists, crafters, cooks, musicians, maker entrepreneurs and players will be holding making sessions, interactive demos and open workshops – give it a go!
